Increase your chances of living in your college of registration—apply before you decide to attend. There is no fee to apply and no penalty for declining a Housing offer. All of these factors play a role in determining if you are placed in your college of registration, tripled, or wait-listed. APPLY TODAY!

The online Housing application is fast, easy and instantly entered in the system. For detailed instructions, go to http://hds.ucsd.edu/onlineapplication OR click here to apply now. Be sure to print and retain the confirmation page for your files. Call 858.534.4010 if you require assistance.

Satisfaction First guarantee

We hope you choose UC San Diego and the Housing • Dining • Hospitality Department as part of your college experience. We believe that we offer one of the best Residential Housing and Dining programs in the country. To demonstrate this and our commitment to our customers, we offer incoming first-year students a unique guarantee of your "Satisfaction First!".

If you feel our Residential Housing and Dining program does not meet your needs or expectations, you will have from the day you take occupancy this fall until 12 noon on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 to terminate your Housing Contract. If you terminate within this specific time period, you will receive a full refund of your Residential Housing account payment, less a minimal $100 termination fee and Dining Plan usage exceeding the prorated amount.

Our "Satisfaction First" guarantee is valid for incoming first-year students during the period of time specified and is not available or applicable any other time throughout the duration of your stay on campus. Specific details of our guarantee will be available at your College's Residential Life Office when you arrive on campus this fall.

Financial Aid

Students who have completed and filed a FAFSA will be provided with an online Preliminary Award Notification (PAN) from the Financial Aid Office. Beginning in mid-March, admitted students may view their PANs online at http://myapplication.ucsd.edu.

Students are responsible for paying the $650 Housing prepayment due with the signed Housing Contract in June since financial aid is not disbursed until after fall quarter begins. As UCSD- administered grants and loans are disbursed quarterly, students receiving sufficient financial aid funds to pay for campus Housing are encouraged to select the quarterly payment option during the contract signing process in June. If financial aid funds do not fully cover Housing charges, students are responsible for paying the balance from their own resources.

If a student with financial aid withdraws from the university and receives a Housing refund, the financial aid program is the first obligation to be paid or credited. If you have questions about financial aid, please contact them by email or call 858.534.4480.

Select triple occupancy & save big!

Want to save at least $750 on Housing? Request a triple space during the Housing contract process in June and save big! You can even room with two of your best buddies if they're registered in the same college as you!

Triple rooms are appropriately furnished with a bed and desk for each student; however, configuration varies by college and facility. Triple spaces are currently available at all six colleges. To request a Triple space, select this option when completing the Housing contract process in June.

Campus Community

Living on campus
Nothing beats living on campus! When you live on campus, you live, learn, and socialize with other students going through the same experiences and changes. It's also the best way to get involved in campus life and build lifelong friendships.

Experience college to the fullest with every university resource at your fingertips. On-campus Housing is located in the heart of each of the six colleges, creating the lifeline of these thriving smaller neighborhoods within the larger UC San Diego community.

Students who live on campus generally feel more fulfilled by their college experience. With classrooms, libraries, labs, and performing arts facilities within walking distance of on-campus Housing, it's no wonder why campus residents are more likely to graduate sooner.

First-year students typically live in residence halls, however, apartment-style Housing is available at some colleges. All on-campus Housing includes a flexible Dining Plan, utilities, and housekeeping services.

RAs (Resident Advisors), HAs (House Advisors), and the residence life staff live within each college's residential neighborhood. They are great sources of information about life at UC San Diego and help address general resident issues. In addition, they organize a variety of programs to expand and enhance educational experiences while providing exposure to diverse ideas and viewpoints of fellow students.

Commitment to diversity
Residents agree to the Housing and Dining Services commitment of supporting a community free from discrimination while promoting individuality and diversity within the bounds of courtesy, sensitivity, confidentiality, respect, and safety where all residents coexist regardless of race, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, and political beliefs.

Ecological responsibility
Housing • Dining • Hospitality (HDH) strives to be ecologically responsible and educate our residents and employees on how we each individually impact the environment. Go to our sustainability section to meet Major Planet and Toby the Wonder Dog and learn about our recycling, conservation education, and sustainability efforts.

Disability accommodations
Guaranteed students with a disability requiring special Housing accommodations should apply for Housing online AND contact the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) as early as possible. Students must meet all Housing deadlines and be referred by OSD to the Residence Life Liaison.

Transgender students
As are all of our residents, transgender students are valued members of the on-campus living community at UC San Diego. In order to support the needs of incoming and continuing transgender students, we strongly encourage students to contact the Residence Life Liaison to discuss individual and specific needs. More information on transgender living and the transgender community at UC San Diego is available at the LGBT website.

Special circumstances
If you have unique conditions that may warrant special attention, contact the Residence Life Liaison by email or phone to discuss your situation and options.
