Assigned Move-In Date/Time
With the room assignment, students are each given an assigned move-in date and time designed to better regulate traffic flow and avoid crowded conditions on move-in weekend. Students who cannot make their assigned move-in date/time or decide to change this assigned date/time, can do so by clicking on the Change Move-In Date button and selecting a new date/time from the options available (when viewing their room assignment). A confirmation email will be sent to the student’s UC San Diego email address with any changes made to their assigned move-in date/time. The deadline for any changes is Friday, September 14, 2012 at 4:00pm! No other changes will be permitted after this date. Questions should be directed to your College Residential Life Office. Also please refer to your College Welcome Letter/Email as it will contain specific move-in details!
Please note that your assigned move-in date/time is designed to help make your move-in a smoother process. Any changes to that assigned move-in date/time may result in longer waiting periods for parking, elevators and check-in.
If you are a new incoming freshman for ERC, Revelle or Muir College AND attending September Orientation, you were assigned a move-in date/time corresponding with your September Orientation. Students attending September Orientation should already be arriving on a specific date that was setup when arranging to attend this Orientation session. Contact your College Orientation Office if you have questions about when you are supposed to be arriving on campus or your College Residence Life Office.
If you are attending September Orientation for TMC (Thurgood Marshall College), you were assigned a move-in time for Saturday or Sunday of move-in weekend. If you choose to arrive earlier than the contract start date of Saturday, September 22nd, you will pay the early move-in charge (see below) as your College does not offer a housing option with their September orientation session.
If you are attending September Orientation for SIXTH or WARREN COLLEGE, you cannot change your assigned move-in date/time. Please contact your College Residential Life Office with questions. All Sixth and Warren College students attending September Orientation should be moving in on Wednesday, September 19th.
Early Move-In Option
Residents will be offered the option to move in earlier than the first day of the Housing contract which is Saturday, September 22nd. The cost for early move-in is $50 per day and is available Wednesday, Thursday and/or Friday September 19, 20 and 21st. Reservations will be open for self-selection when you view your room assignment information by choosing the option to change your move-in date/time. This option is only available until September 14, 2012 at 4:00pm! No other changes will be permitted after this date. The charge for moving in early will be assessed to the student’s housing account.
International Student Move-In Option
International students (new incoming freshman and/or new incoming EAP reciprocity students) will have the ability to select an early move-in option. New incoming freshman will be able to select an alternate move-in option for Tuesday, September 18th (times available will be during regular business hours). EAP reciprocity students will be able to select an alternate move-in option for Wednesday, September 19th. International students have an additional required Orientation session scheduled for September 19th and September 20th. You must select an alternate early move-in time in order to be checked in. When you view your room assignment information, you will be able to self-select this option. This option is only available until September 14, 2012 at 4:00pm! No other changes will be permitted after this date. The charge for moving in early will be assessed to the student’s housing account.
The “Buy Up” Dining Plan Program
This option is only available through September 14, 2012 at 4:00pm! An Apartment resident with the assigned $2260 dining dollars can sign up for the $2950 or $3400 dining plan and work the charges into the Housing Schedule of Rates and payment dates. A Residence Hall resident with the assigned $2950 dining dollars can sign up for the $3400 and work the additional charge into the Quarterly/Monthly payments. When you view your room assignment, select the Buy Up button if you’d like to take advantage of this option. A confirmation email will be sent to your UCSD email address if you have selected a different dining plan. More information is available at Buy Up Dining Plan or feel free to contact our office directly (858) 534-4010.
